Getting leads for MLM is great. It means that you’re on your way to actually get MLM prospects to sign up with you.
However, if you don’t know how to follow up with MLM prospects properly once you’re in touch with them, it’ll all be for nothing. The very simple fact is that 99% of the time, an MLM prospect won’t sign up with you the first time you talk to them.
In fact, the stats show that on average you need to talk to an MLM prospect 7 to 9 times before they sign up for your network marketing company. If you don’t know how to build relationships with MLM leads effectively, you won’t have much success in the field of network marketing.
You THINK that generating leads for MLM is the hard part… but consistently following up is the real hard part.
This blog post will tell you how I follow up with MLM prospects and how you can successfully follow up with your own MLM leads.
Creating Leads for MLM is the Easy Part
Like I mentioned above, most people think generating leads for MLM is the tricky part. Let’s discuss what MLM leads actually are.
They are MLM prospects who are willing to make more income or get the results they want from your product. So basically, they’re just people.
This means that getting leads for MLM from social media – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn – from your phone, and from meeting people in the street is easy.
The tricky bit is effectively following up with these MLM leads and building a relationship that would make them be willing to sign up with you.
It’s like a marriage – the ‘honeymoon period’ is easy. Taking care of your significant other during the honeymoon period is a piece of cake.
You do everything right and are over the moon for each other. Just like that, it’s easy generating an MLM lead.
The hard part is having consistency over time. To keep doing the right things after the novelty wears off.
Likewise, in MLM, the hard part is getting your relationship with your MLM leads to the point that they sign up with your business.
That’s why following up with your MLM prospects is so important, and this blog post will show you how.
Booking MLM Prospects for a Follow-Up Meeting
A big mistake I see many network marketers make is not booking a future meeting while meeting an MLM prospect. What does this mean?
- When you’re talking to one of your leads for MLM, and they say that they’re available or interested in further discussion, don’t say, “Yeah, I’ll follow up with you sometime next week.” This means that the MLM prospect has no deadline. They won’t feel the need to go through the information you send them or set aside a time to meet with you.
- Instead, when an MLM lead expresses interest in further discussion, you should say, “Good, I’ll send you the info. How long will it take you to go through it?”
- When they say how long, see what time and date you can meet them and tell them, for example, “Excellent. I have an opening on Friday, noon EST.”
- Either your leads for MLM will say yes, or they will say no, in which case you can book a different appointment.
- This way you’ll know when to call them, and they will be expecting you to call. Thus, you’ll be far more effective at following-up with your MLM prospects and you’ll have a greater sign-up ratio.
- Once you’ve done all this, mark the time and date on your MLM system so you remember to follow up with them.
Having a 3-Way Call With Your MLM Leads
Here’s an interesting story: A lady named Terra McCallister, a network marketing professional, was averaging 10 to 12 calls a day – no joke. She had amazing conversations with people on LinkedIn, but none of them were signing up. Perhaps you can empathize with this.
As I said, just getting leads for MLM is not enough.
Anyway, she came to me for advice, and we found out the issue was that she wasn’t using third-party help. MLM prospects don’t know us.
If we don’t have someone else talking to them, it’s very difficult to get them to trust us enough to sign up with us.
Let’s say we have to follow up with one of our leads for MLM like in the last example. Here’s what we do:
- Once we’ve set a time and date with them, we text our sponsor or the person helping us, and ask if they can help us with our MLM prospect.
- Usually, they can, so when we follow up, we make it a 3-way call.
- We tell our MLM prospect a little bit about the third party joining our call. We do it naturally, like saying, ‘Can you please hold up a second? I was lucky enough to get Terra on the call with us. She’s had amazing success recently and we can maybe pick up a thing or two from her.’ We can use this to tell our MLM leads about what good results this third party has had, and then let that person take over from there.
- Usually, our leads for MLM are in doubt about signing up, and hearing another person’s story along with the great results they’ve had gives us credibility and builds up our relationships with our MLM prospects.
The Best MLM System to Follow-Up
I often get asked about what MLM system I use to keep track of all my leads for MLM. After using many MLM systems and getting through tons of clients, I decided that it doesn’t matter what MLM system you use.
All that matters is that you like it, that you use it well and that you are able to depend on it.
The MLM system I personally like best is Google Calendar. I book all my appointments on this MLM system, and keep it on my PC, phone, laptop, and tablet.
This way, I always have my appointments on me to refer to, using Google Calendar as my MLM system.
When I have an appointment with someone, I put all their info in the description of the calendar appointment. Then when I have to follow up with them, I just move that client further ahead in the calendar.
This is all I use as an MLM system, nothing else. The only leads for MLM that I actually keep track of are the ones that I’ve spoken to over the phone.
What To Say To Your MLM Prospects To Sign Them Up
I’ve stressed this before: generating leads for MLM is very simple. The difficult part is getting MLM prospects to actually sign up with you.
Many people think that network marketing scripts are what get MLM leads to sign up, but what’s actually important is the relationship you build up with your leads for MLM. They say yes if you actually listen to them; if you build up a rapport with them.
Your MLM prospects must believe that you care about them. You have to ask them, “Are you ready to get started?” to get them to sign up, but it isn’t the network marketing script that gets them to agree.
It’s the trust your MLM prospects have for you, and the third-party credibility you have that gets them to sign up.
My Network Marketing Scripts
I don’t really think network marketing scripts are all that important to get leads for MLM to sign up. As I said earlier, your MLM prospects should believe that you care about them. Only then, will you be able to get far with them.
Since many of you have asked for my network marketing scripts that I use for my MLM prospects, I decided to share some of them here. You need to be on the phone with your MLM prospects with no distractions, and fully aware of everything you can use to get your MLM leads to trust you.
When you have that attitude, network marketing scripts aren’t what will help you to generate sign-ups. Regardless, I will give you some useful network marketing scripts that we’ve discussed before in this blog post on how to follow up with leads for MLM.
1. Booking a meeting from a meeting:
When an MLM prospect says ‘yes’ or, “I’m interested in knowing more about this,” I simply tell them:
“All right, I’m gonna send you some information. It’s going to take you 10 minutes to view this video/piece of information. How soon can you look at it?”
When they say, for example, “In 24 hours,” I go over my calendar and see the next available time slot I have around the time span they mentioned and ask them:
“If it’s going to take you 24 hours to view, I got an opening tomorrow at 9 pm EST. Does that work for you?”
They’re gonna say yes or no. If they say yes, tell them that’s great. If they say no, I say:
“Fantastic. Then next day, is morning or evening better?”
After the appointment is booked with my MLM prospect, I ask them to text me ahead of time if something comes up and they can’t be available for the appointment. This is how you book a meeting from a meeting and get more interactions with your leads for MLM.
2. The 3-Way Call Script:
3-way calls are both simple and effective at recruiting MLM prospects. Do not ask your MLM prospect for permission to introduce the third party.
What I do is I build rapport for a few minutes, making small talk, and then ask if they can hold on a second. Then I get my third-party on the phone by telling them how I am talking to a prospect and want to introduce them.
When I come back to my MLM prospect, I say this:
“Mr. (MLM Prospect), we are so lucky. This is my business partner and I was available to grab him for a quick chat. This guy is so stinking busy. He has accomplished X, Y, Z. He used to be *add details here*. He’s had this kind of result on the product. I want him to tell you his story.”
Then to introduce my MLM prospect to my business partner, I say:
“This is (MLM Prospect), he’s a real-estate agent. He is super interested in what we’ve got going on here.”
Then I shut up and let them tell their story.
The point of a 3-way call is not to close people, it is to build rapport, and the rest will take care of itself.
3. Enrolling people:
This script is the simplest. Just ask, “Are you ready to get started?” and then get quiet. If the relationship is effectively built up, they will say yes. That’s it. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed this blog post on how to follow up with your leads for MLM effectively. I’m looking forward to hearing about your success stories.
